A note from the seller
It has been almost forty years since we moved to Cannenburg. At that time, Cannenburg included, and still does, four courtyards with drive-in homes. Like the entire neighborhood, designed as ‘garden city’ Buitenveldert, Cannenburg was then in an early stage; young homes with much greenery in the gardens and modest linden trees in the courtyards. Over the years, we have witnessed how lush the gardens and the nearby park have grown, how majestic the linden trees became, spreading the scent of their white flowers on warm summer days. Today, Buitenveldert and particularly Cannenburg truly live up to the name ‘garden city.’ For our work, my husband and I needed to be in the heart of the city. Living in Cannenburg brought us into a different dimension, which has remained pleasant for us: not only because of the special green context and the beautiful varied walks in the two nearby parks and the Amsterdamse Bos but also for the conveniences that ‘our’ neighborhood has increasingly offered thanks to its ongoing development. There is a variety of childcare options and different types of schools in our neighborhood (the latest addition is the Amsterdam International Community School). Of course, there is also a university nearby. Cannenburg is situated near the Vrije Universiteit, which, alongside higher education, enriches the cultural life of the residents with lectures, exhibitions, the four cinema halls of Rialto VU, concerts in the Botanical Garden, and of course, its bookstore. There are plenty of gyms and other sports facilities. Our courtyard Cannenburg 34-66 has its own WhatsApp group, allowing residents to help each other; in late summer, a gathering is organized in one of the four courtyards for all Cannenburg residents with homemade food, children playing, and good conversations among the neighbors. In short, I have experienced living in Cannenburg with great satisfaction and pleasure. I will always look back with great gratitude at the spacious, functional house flooded with light, the peaceful view, the prevailing good atmosphere in the ‘courtyard,’ and friendly contacts with the neighbors.
